Documentation Wizard™

Effective July 1998, the Medicare Health Care Financing Administration has implemented new rules and guidelines for healthcare providers to follow when choosing Evaluation & Management codes. Healthcare providers who do not follow the new documentation guidelines can be severely penalized
by HCFA (please refer to the news articles in "Exhibit DW" to read more on this important subject.)

The "MedOffice Documentation Wizard™" is an electronic medical record module that, among other things, helps providers perform three very important tasks:

Choose the correct Evaluation & Management
(E/M) codes, and
Maintain proper documentation to support the physician's choice of mandated E/M codes, and
 Help eliminate transcription costs.

Management Reports

Covering a wide range of topics, MedOffice™ software provides physicians and staff with extensive management reports that help assess the productivity, range and direction of the overall practice. With the push of a button, reports can be produced for topics such as accounts receivable, claims journals, co-pays in the system, insurance billings, insurance receipts, managed care, prescriptions by pharmacy, etc. With these up-to-date reports consistently available, physicians can make better decisions about the day-to-day and long-range performance of their offices.

Insurance Payment Tracking

This special feature allows office staff to establish and track insurance payments and payment trends on a monthly and/or annual basis. It is not uncommon for insurance companies to "shortchange" physicians a few dollars here and there on services performed. Typically, when payment shortages are $5 or less, medical staff does not take time to contact each insurance company and dispute payment since the time spent is not cost effective. MedOffice™ software tracks every discrepancy automatically and generates a monthly "Exception Report" showing exactly how much and how many times each insurance company paid less than the agreed upon amount. With this data in hand, a staff member may call the insurance companies just once a month to settle multiple payment discrepancies at once.
